Tunisia: The Challenge of Building Democracy
On December 14, 2011 CTR organized a second event on Tunisia and the Arab Spring.
A first event took place on October 17 in the run-up of the elections.
Ambassador Kurt Volker, CTR Managing Director, moderated an extremely interesting and lively debate.
Panelists were invited to outline:
- “Islam and Democracy: Seeking to Coexist” (Aude Jehan),
- “An Assessment of Election Results on a Geographical Basis” (Francesco Martini),
- “The First Steps of the New Tunisian Government” (Alexis Arieff),
- “Internal Security and Human Rights” (Daniele Moro),
- “The Condition of Women After the ‘Jasmine Revolution’” (Leila Chennoufi).
