New Publication
CTR has just released its annual survey of jobs, trade and investment flows across the Atlantic. The Transatlantic Economy 2005 provides the most updated information available for European-sourced jobs, trade and investment with each of the 50 U.S. States, and American-sourced jobs, trade and invesment with 27 different European economies. Available through Brookings Institution Bookstore.

International Dimensions of Homeland Security
Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff has awarded a consortium headed by Johns Hopkins to be the nation's new National Center of Excellence in Homeland Security. The Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins SAIS was part of the team developing this new effort, and will lead on international policy dimensions of the Center's efforts. The US and the EU have agreed to resume talks to create an open transatlantic aviation market. CTR has recently released an analysis of the economic impact of a transatlantic "Open Skies" Agreement.

Atlantic Storm, the After-Action Report
The Center and its partners at the Biosecurity Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center have released their after-action report on the Atlantic Storm bioterror simulation featuring former European and North American ministers and heads of government.

European Bank for Reconstruction and Developement
December 2, 2005: CTR hosted the launch of the 2005 European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Transition Report.  Acting Chief Economist Steven Fries lead the EBRD presentation.

Transatlantic Homeland Security
On December 1, 2005, CTR, together with the Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Trade Council, hosted the 2005 Sweden-U.S. Homeland Security Meeting.  The Conference also featured the release of a new book by the Center entitled Protecting the Homeland: European Approaches to "Societal Security"-Lessons for the United States.
Rethinking Social Security and Pensions
