Elizabeth Pond works in both the worlds of journalism and academia.   She is also a non-resident Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations.  Her specialty is tracking the dynamics of transformations.

Ms. Pond served as a foreign correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor in Asia and Europe before she turned to writing books with grants from a variety of think tanks--most recently, the US Institute of Peace.  She is the author of four books on post-Cold War Europe: Beyond the Wall on the dynamics of German reunification; The Rebirth of Europe on the euro and the lurch toward more common EU foreign policy; Friendly Fire: The Near-Death of the Transatlantic Alliance; and Endgame in the Balkans: Regime Change, European Style. She lives in Berlin, writes occasional magazine articles, and teaches now and then at American or German colleges or universities. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the German Council on Foreign Relations (where she edited the English-language foreign-policy quarterly for six years); the International Institute for Strategic Studies; and Women in International Security.
