David Michel is Senior Associate at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at The Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. He is also Program Coordinator of the Center’s Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change, a study group engaging a broad range of stakeholders and opinion leaders from both sides of the Atlantic to examine issues facing the US and the EU as they seek to address the ongoing challenge of global climate change.  David is the editor of Climate Policy for the 21st Century: Meeting the Long-Term Challenge of Global Warming, the result of an international collaborative research effort bringing together experts from the United States, Europe, and developing countries. He has written on issues of capacity building, intergenerational equity, and international justice in climate policy, and has consulted with several NGOs participating in the climate regime negotiating process.  Educated at Yale University, the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris, and The Johns Hopkins University, his current research focuses on transatlantic relations, the politics of complex multilateral negotiations, and international environmental cooperation at the sub-national level.
